Position Summary
The Field Service Technician serves as a senior-level technician responsible for hands-on installation, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of parking systems. This role includes field-level leadership, inspection reporting, and coordination with project teams to ensure system reliability, safety compliance, and proper documentation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Installation & Commissioning Support
- Lead or assist with installation of steel framing, platforms, motors, gearboxes, sensors, control boxes, and hydraulic units.
- Interpret and follow layout drawings, mechanical plans, and installation documentation.
- Conduct pre-start and post-installation checks.
- Assist in calibration and functional testing of system components during commissioning.
- Verify that installation conforms to specifications, reporting discrepancies as needed.
Maintenance & Repairs
- Independently perform preventive maintenance and emergency service on mechanical parking systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control issues with minimal supervision.
- Coordinate on-site repairs and escalate complex issues to Engineering or Project Management.
- Maintain detailed maintenance logs, service reports, and parts usage records.
- Monitor recurring system issues and recommend corrective actions or long-term fixes.
Reporting & Documentation
- Complete and submit daily job logs, service tickets, and inspection checklists via digital platform (e.g., Connecteam or equivalent).
- Document all inspections, issues, and resolutions using standard company forms.
- Conduct and submit system condition reports, photo documentation, and punchlists following site visits.
- Support warranty tracking by reporting parts replaced and system behavior post-service.
Site Safety & Coordination
- Participate in safety briefings and follow OSHA/DOB site compliance requirements.
- Assist in organizing jobsite equipment, loading/unloading tools, and maintaining clean work areas.
- Communicate task updates to the VP of Operations or Project Manager.
- Attend internal training to develop technical expertise and product knowledge.
Qualifications
Required:
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification.
- NYC SST 10-Hour Worker Card (minimum requirement).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor in all weather conditions.
- Experience reading blueprints, layout diagrams, and wiring schematics.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude, including familiarity with hand tools and multimeters.
Preferred:
- SST 62-Hour Supervisor Card (preferred for future advancement to Senior Technician).
- 5+ years experience with elevators, vehicle lifts, industrial machinery, or automation systems.
- Certifications in aerial lift, forklift, or rigging.
- Familiarity with NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) permit and inspection protocols.
Work Schedule & Compensation
Full-time, 40–50 hours/week.
Monday–Friday with occasional overtime, evenings, or weekends based on project needs.
Field work based on region assigned (NYC or Miami Beach).
Hourly rate: $30.00 – $60.00/hour (based on experience).
Overtime eligible.
