CANDIDATE MUST BE LOCATED IN THE MIDWESTERN UNITED STATES
The Field Service Technician role handles installation, repairs, customer training and support of our equipment for our customers. Positions are either based remotely or from our headquarters in Mundelein, Illinois. Positions require extensive travel, up to 90%. Tools will be provided.
Incumbent must be detail-orientated, analytical in nature with a strong electro/mechanical background. Food processing machine repair a plus.
Due to the nature of the role, extensive travel, lodging and car rental and independent work; incumbents must be 25 years of age or older. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Must possess a valid drivers license issued in the United States.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Installation, repair and preventative maintenance of our proprietary food processing machines at customer sites
- Re-wiring and repair of electrical assembly
- Troubleshoots, repair and preventative maintenance of machines.
- Expert submission of required reports, such as service and expense.
- Provides phone support while based remotely.
- Programs, installs and troubleshoots KEB frequency drives.
- Troubleshoot Beckhoff control systems and I/O.
- Troubleshoot Siemens PLC and I/O
Education and Experience:
- Understand the operation and programming of programmable logic controllers (PLC), Siemens/Beckhoff CPU’s and related logic and I/O cards.
- Knowledge of Ethercat, Profibus, and MPI fieldbus communications.
- Knowledge of Beckhoff CX industrial computers, components and wiring
- Formal education from a technical or trade school as a food industry technician a plus
- 2 plus years’ experience in equipment maintenance required.
- General personal computer skills including MS Office
- Able to read complex wiring diagrams, measure voltage/current and perform continuity checks.
**Food processing equipment experience a must
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, twist and turn and lift at times; in excess of 100 lbs.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time during air and car travel.
- Ability to handle stress and boredom.
