The Position
The Financial Aid Analyst is responsible for supporting the administration and compliance of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs. This position focuses heavily on pulling and reviewing reports from the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) and Common Origination and Disbursement (COD), as well as reviewing student financial aid documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance. The Analyst plays a vital role in safeguarding regulatory adherence while ensuring timely delivery of aid to students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Pull, review, and reconcile reports from NSLDS, COD, and other federal systems to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
- Verify and process student financial aid documentation (e.g., verification worksheets, tax transcripts, professional judgment requests, appeals).
- Review and update student records to ensure alignment with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
- Monitor student loan eligibility, aggregate loan limits, and Pell Lifetime Eligibility Used (LEU) through NSLDS.
- Research and resolve discrepancies between institutional records and federal systems (e.g., loan disbursement issues, Pell adjustments, overpayments).
- Assist with federal reporting and reconciliation processes in collaboration with the Financial Aid leadership team.
- Communicate with students regarding missing or incomplete documentation and provide guidance on requirements.
- Maintain accurate audit-ready files and assist in preparation for internal and external compliance reviews.
- Stay informed on updates to Title IV regulations, NSLDS/COD processes, and institutional policies.

The minimum requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field such as finance, education, counseling, or business administration.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of financial aid programs and regulations, including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and federal and state grants and loans.
- Experience: Previous experience working in a financial aid or student services capacity, particularly in a higher education setting.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to students and their families.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of computer systems and databases used in financial aid administration, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
