Shumaker is seeking a Financial Analyst to be responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of Shumaker Advisors and assisting the Controller with matters related to other financial operations within the firm. This candidate will perform a variety of accounting and bookkeeping duties according to established policies and procedures.
This hourly non-exempt position will report directly to the Controller with the flexibility for a hybrid schedule. The position will be based in one of the following offices: Columbus, Ohio, Toledo, Ohio or Tampa, Florida.
Essential Duties
- Works in concert with the President and Chief of Staff for Shumaker Advisors entities to implement and monitor performance improvement initiatives by performing detailed performance analysis and modeling.
- Provide financial management and modeling as needed to manage the business of the firm.
- Participates in regular meetings with management to represent financial performance updates.
- Processing approved reimbursement requests by the firm’s personnel and company vendors.
- Processing daily coding of cash receipts and routine accounts receivable and collections follow ups.
- Monthly bank reconciliations and financial statement compilation.
- Manage relationships with employees and subcontractors during their onboarding and beyond.
- Maintain tracking of advisor client relationships for computation of compensation and bonus components.
- Reconciling and recording credit card activity for multiple accounts.
- PAC accounting
- Coordinate annual budgeting process.
- Maintain spreadsheets, data bases and other financial applications used to provide baseline financial data.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting software and the supporting database.
Education, Experience and Skills Required
- Minimum of Associate Degree required.
- Basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Experience with lobbying-related accounting regulations and reporting requirements, such as those related to campaign finance, may be beneficial.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Accounting software program experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting frequently, six out of eight hours per day. Sitting position static for up to one-half hour at a time.
- Bending and stooping occasionally, up to one half-hour per day.
