The City of Fredericksburg Fire Department is seeking pre-certified Firefighter/EMTs. - ALS Certification stipend above base pay of $4,000 for Advanced EMTs, $6,000 for EMT-Intermediates, and $10,000 for Paramedics upon release to practice by the Department’s EMS Physician.

Successful applicants for a Firefighter/EMT vacancy will be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED. Successful applicant for this vacancy requires the possession of the certification from Virginia Department of Fire Programs, Firefighter I and II or proboard equivalent; EMT-Basic; Current CPR Certification, Emergency Vehicle Operators Level III preferred; Hazardous Materials Operations; IS-100/200/700/800; current driver’s license.

Applicant Physical Agility Testing and Written Exam will be administered on September 20th, 2025. Applicants meeting standards for testing will be invited to attend this date via email. Those applicants who successfully complete the testing on the 20th will be invited on a first come first serve basis to interview on the 25th of September. No alternative dates are available. We are announcing these dates in advance to grant applicants opportunity to manage their schedules.
