The Pottsgrove School District is seeking applicants for a full-time (12-month) School Secretary position at the Pottsgrove Middle School.
JOB SUMMARY: Provide clerical support to the office of the Assistant Principal in a manner that is professional, diplomatic, and complies with confidentiality requirements.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform clerical duties such as answering the phone, preparing reports, opening and distributing mail, scheduling appointments, typing correspondences and memos, and filing.
- Ensure the smooth operation and organization of the office and materials.
- Produce and distribute daily attendance bulletin.
- Oversee various areas of Child Accounting, entering data and organizing cumulative records.
- Maintain petty cash account.
- Provide curriculum and scheduling support based on Principal and Assistant Principal's direction.
- Assist with attendance data; collaborate with building staff to maintain accurate data and prepare notices for excessive absences.
- Ensure availability of substitutes and staff coverage in the absence of teachers and teacher aides; manage daily schedule for teacher vacancies due to absences.
- Maintain communications with teachers, parents, staff, and students, providing support as needed
- Process report card verifications with teachers and the student tracking software system.
- Oversee and organize student announcements.
- Serve as a member of the Crisis Response Team, coordinating security in building and maintaining/generating information.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal and Assistant Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Three (3) years experience as school secretary preferred
High School diploma necessary
Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
FBI Criminal History Record
Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
