Oliver’s is a neighborhood tavern in Mount Tremper serving seasonal, unusually-delicious food in a laid-back setting. We aim to be the kind of place where you can drop in for dinner during the week, meet up with friends on the weekend, and always run into someone you know. It's casual, but with a level of care and quality that keeps people coming back.
We’re looking for a General Manager who can help keep things running smoothly while continuing to build the kind of space where our community feels at home—and where visitors can step into something authentic. Someone who leads with warmth and professionalism, knows how to keep service tight without it feeling formal, and sees hospitality as rooted in genuine connection.
About the Role:
As GM, you’ll oversee day-to-day operations of the restaurant, managing service, staff, and logistics while keeping the guest experience at the center of everything. You’ll work closely and collaboratively with the owners and kitchen team to maintain a high standard across the board.
You’ll also have the opportunity to bring new ideas to the table—whether that’s programming small events, finding ways to deepen community ties, or exploring future involvement with the on-site inn.
What Makes Oliver’s Stand Out:
Our menu changes often, reflecting the seasons and the creativity of the team. Pastas and sausages are made in-house. Dishes are familiar enough to feel comforting, but crafted with the kind of detail that surprises people—in a good way. It’s food that’s casual in setting but serious in execution.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee FOH service and operations, ensuring everything runs efficiently and guests feel cared for
- Hire, train, and support FOH staff, fostering a positive, professional team culture
- Manage scheduling, ordering, inventory, and vendor communication
- Collaborate with the kitchen and owners on menu rollouts and specials
- Contribute ideas for programming or events that feel natural to the space
- Support general systems and growth, including potential expansion into inn operations
- Be present during service and lead by example, often stepping behind the bar to provide service
Qualifications:
- 3–5+ years in hospitality management
- Confident managing teams, service, and operational flow
- Comfortable with systems (POS, inventory, scheduling) but focused on people
- Strong attention to detail, but easygoing enough to roll with a curveball
- A passion for food, beverage, and warm, intentional hospitality
- Bonus: experience with event planning or lodging operations
