Job Description
Do you have transferrable experience for the Geotechnical Technician position, a positive attitude, and are looking to join a highly collaborative and people-focused company?
The Geotechnical Technician is responsible for the supervision of subcontractors and logging boreholes.
This role will work collaboratively with other Technicians, Geologists, Engineers, and Designers and will be given the responsibility to act as the on-site contact for geotechnical work.
Typical Duties:
- Supervise subcontractors and log boreholes.
- Communicate with subcontractors regarding the project status.
- Relay problems in the field to experienced staff to solve on-the-job problems as they arise.
- Support the office Geotechnical Team with preparing Geotechnical Reports using applicable PennDOT & PA Turnpike Design Standards
Must-Haves – Skills, Transferrable Experience, & Certifications:
- Education: High School Diploma/GED, BA/BS a plus
- Minimumexperience: 0+ years
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Ability to obtain PennDOT Drilling Inspector Certification.
- Ability to obtain OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing with internal and external clients.
- Detail-oriented and strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Basic math and reading skills.
- Ability to demonstrate effective supervisory qualities and skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and PDF editing software.
- Ability to become proficient with boring log software (Bentley gINT).
- EIT or GIT a plus.
- MicroStation or drafting software is a plus.
Additional Information:
Offered rate of compensation for this full-time position will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This role requires the ability to travel with little to no notice, including overnight stay on a recurring basis, to various project work sites in different locations, have the ability to stand for extended periods of time in addition to be outside in various extreme terrain or conditions and varying environmental or hazardous settings. This position also requires the ability to exert moderate amounts of force including lifting, carrying, pulling, and moving objects for various methods of testing.
