POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Seasonal Groundskeeper
REPORTS TO: Head Groundskeeper
JOB SUMMARY: As a contributor to the Aquarium’s mission and guest experience, the Seasonal Groundskeeper is responsible for repairing and maintaining fixtures, setting up for Sea of Lights, and preforming site landscaping. This role supports the operational excellence of the organization by performing a broad range of groundskeeping duties associated with the winter season. The Seasonal Groundskeeper works collaboratively across departments, demonstrates professionalism and respect, and is committed to safety, stewardship of resources, and continuous improvement.
General Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and seasonal grounds maintenance tasks, including but not limited to mowing, pruning, planting, fertilizing, and watering landscaped areas.
- Install, maintain, clean, and repair exterior fixtures and structures such as benches, signage, fences, and lighting.
- Maintain, repair and install outdoor surfaces including walking paths, sidewalks, and parking lots to ensure safety and accessibility.
- Operate hand tools and power equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers) safely and maintain them in clean, working conditions.
- Follow all safety protocols, including the proper use of equipment, PPE, and emergency procedures.
- Partner with Environmental Health and Safety Manager to ensure adherence to state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Execute departmental seasonal weather response responsibilities such as distributing de-icer, shoveling walkways, and setting up signage
- Collaborate with other departments and team members to support cross-functional initiatives and events.
- Exhibit professionalism, respect, and inclusivity in all interactions with staff, visitors, volunteers, and community members.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission, safety, and well-being of the Aquarium.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Minimum levels)
- Vocational training or certification in a related field is preferred.
