We are currently seeking an experienced Hardline Coax Splicer for a 1099 contract position, responsible for the installation, maintenance, and splicing of hardline coaxial cable systems used in telecommunications, cable television, and internet services.
Location:
- Based in Elk Grove Village, IL.
- Travel required for various projects.

- Contract (1099 Position).
Compensation:
- Competitive hourly or project-based rate, negotiable based on experience.
Work Environment:
- Outdoor job sites, often in varying weather conditions.
- Physical demands, including climbing poles, lifting heavy equipment, and working in confined spaces.Full adherence to safety protocols and the use of PPE is required.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Hardline Coax Splicer or in a similar role in the telecommunications industry.
- Knowledge of coaxial cable splicing techniques, including preparation and testing of cables.
- Experience with cable splicing tools, equipment, and testing devices.
- Strong understanding of telecommunications systems, signal flow, and cable network design.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and cable installation maps.
- Familiarity with industry safety protocols and OSHA standards.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with field teams and project managers.
- Physical ability to work in outdoor environments, often requiring climbing poles or working in confined spaces.
Key Responsibilities:
Cable Splicing & Installation:
- Perform splicing, termination, and testing of hardline coaxial cables in both aerial and underground installations.
- Install and maintain coaxial cable systems for telecommunications, internet, and cable television services.
- Ensure the proper fusion or mechanical splicing of cables, ensuring strong and reliable connections.
- Test spliced cables for signal strength, quality, and performance to meet service requirements.
System Integration & Troubleshooting:
- Assist in troubleshooting and repairing hardline coaxial cable faults or service interruptions, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to diagnose issues with the system and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure the proper configuration of spliced cables to integrate seamlessly into existing network infrastructure.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of all splicing work performed, including locations, materials used, and any issues encountered.
- Provide accurate reports of daily production and progress to the project manager or supervisor.
- Document any system modifications and splicing activities for future reference or audits.
Collaboration & Coordination:
- Work closely with project managers, field engineers, and construction teams to plan and execute cable installations.
- Communicate with crew members to ensure the splicing process is on track and any challenges are addressed.
- Assist in coordinating cable splicing activities with other trades to ensure timely project completion.
Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Always wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintain safety standards while working.
- Follow all safety and industry regulations, including OSHA standards, during cable splicing and installation procedures.
Process Improvement & Efficiency:
- Continuously seek ways to improve splicing techniques, cable installations, and overall work efficiency. Recommend process modifications to enhance cable splicing accuracy, speed, and reliability.
Additional Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors to assist in the successful completion of projects. May be required to work in adverse weather conditions or at heights, depending on the project requirements.
