About the role
The Head of Capital Markets provides strategic leadership across all facets of capital markets activities, with a focus on supporting Unlock's growth through effective funding and investment strategies. This role oversees capital raising, warehouse financing, securitization structuring, investor relations, and asset management for home equity investments—an emerging asset class within consumer finance. This position is responsible for managing and optimizing warehouse lines, structuring and executing securitization transactions, engaging with rating agencies, and securing forward flow agreements with institutional investors. It also plays a critical role in managing capital and liquidity risk, pricing strategies, and ensuring effective communication and relationships with capital partners. The Head of Capital Markets serves as a key driver in scaling the financial infrastructure and long-term funding capabilities.
What you'll do
- Drive all equity and debt capital raising efforts, including investor sourcing, marketing materials, due diligence support, term negotiation, and investor relations.
- Structure and execute rated securitization transactions, manage warehouse financing, and oversee strategic capital initiatives to support asset growth.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with institutional investors, rating agencies, and financial partners to expand funding capacity and optimize pricing.
- Design and implement forward flow agreements and other funding solutions that align with growth objectives and capital efficiency goals.
- Shape pricing, credit, and underwriting strategies in collaboration with operations, and finance teams to meet investor requirements and enhance portfolio performance.
- Provide strategic leadership in the development of new financial products, funding structures, and market expansion opportunities.
- Oversee portfolio performance and reporting.
- Maintain governance for all investor-facing documents and artifacts.
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, and regulatory teams to manage documentation, mitigate risk, and ensure adherence to evolving regulatory standards.
- Represent the company publicly through PR efforts, conferences, and thought leadership to strengthen company presence in the home equity and capital markets space.
- Hire, coach, develop and manage performance of all team members. Ensure Unlock values are adhered to and consistently demonstrated. Effectively manage budget and resources.
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or related field.
- 10+ years in capital markets, real estate finance, or fintech, with a focus on home equity products, securitization, and investor relations.
- Proven ability to raise significant capital and negotiate complex financial structures with top-tier investors.
- Strong proficiency in cashflow modeling, valuation, credit analysis, and asset performance.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills with investors, rating agencies, and internal stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, risk management, and macroeconomic trends impacting mortgage and real estate industries.
- Track record of developing innovative funding structures and driving new product growth in emerging asset classes.
- Expertise in rated securitization structuring, warehouse negotiation, and forward flow agreements.
- Proficiency in managing investor due diligence, data rooms, and marketing materials.
- Strong network of investors, rating agencies, and financial partners.
- PC skills including working knowledge of the Microsoft environment and the ability to access, manipulate, organize and relay information in a meaningful way.
- Ability to work in a high-growth, dynamic environment.

Target base compensation is $275,000-$300,000 annually. Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
