About the Role
BEOF is seeking a passionate and experienced Head Start Program Director to lead and manage all aspects of our Head Start Program. This position is responsible for ensuring full compliance with federal Head Start Performance Standards, overseeing day-to-day operations, staff supervision, budgeting, and fostering strong partnerships with families and community stakeholders. The goal is to promote school readiness by delivering high-quality, comprehensive early childhood education and family services. They will work in direct conjunction with the Head Start Compliance Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for all aspects of the Head Start Program.
- Ensure program compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including DHHS Head Start Performance Standards, by collaborating with the agency’s Compliance Officer and staying current with evolving guidelines.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate program goals, outcomes, and objectives.
- Supervise and support program staff; provide ongoing performance evaluations and professional development.
- Prepare and submit funding proposals and reports; manage budgets and ensure fiscal accountability.
- Collaborate with internal departments and community partners to coordinate services.
- Maintain effective communication and working relationships with parents, staff, stakeholders, and the broader community.
- Lead efforts in community outreach and public relations to raise program visibility.
- Support the active engagement and governance of the Parent Policy Council.
- Maintain accurate records, data tracking systems, and reports to monitor program effectiveness and compliance.
- Oversee facility and resource management for program operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in program management and staff supervision.
- Minimum 3 years of experience or formal training in early childhood education.
- Strong administrative and leadership skills, including experience with planning, budgeting, and grant writing.
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Computer proficiency (MS Office, data tracking systems, etc.).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Background and fingerprint clearance required.
Preferred:
- Experience with Head Start programs.
- Master’s degree in a related field.
