Mount Mercy Academy Varsity Basketball Coach
Job Summary:
The Varsity Basketball Coach is responsible for various aspects of the Basketball Program, such as recruiting, scheduling, and training. The Coach is required to abide by the Monsignor Martin rules and regulations, as well as the rules and regulations set by the Mount Mercy Academy Board of Trustees, Head of School, and the athletic administration.

In order to be successful in this job, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Qualifications:
● 2 years of experience coaching basketball at the high school level is preferred.
● Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
● Must possess knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
● Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, governing organizations, opponents, staff, parents, and students.
● Must be First Aid, AED and CPR certified before coaching responsibilities begin.
Responsibilities:
● Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions, to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
● Coordinate the development, promotion, and recruitment for the Basketball Program.
● Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual and team development.
● Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property.
● Assist the Athletic Director with the scheduling of games and coordinate arrangements.
● Take team transportation to all contests and supervise athletes at all times.
● Make sure that all referees and athletic trainers sign payment vouchers for all home contests and return them to the Athletic Director after every contest.
● Act as a team representative and promote the sport by communicating with the news media, booster clubs, service clubs, and other organizations.
● Attend Open Houses and the Sports Banquet as a representative of the basketball program.
Additional Knowledge/Skills/Attributes:
● Extensive knowledge of current coaching techniques and procedures is paramount.
● Demonstrated ability to instruct and supervise student athletes.
● Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
● Must possess the ability to relate to students and to teach them on and off the court.
● Must be willing to accept a high level of accountability.
Job Type: Seasonal
Pay: $3,000.00 - $5,000.00 per year
Schedule:
- Evenings as needed
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
