Dakota State University is seeking candidates for a Head Women’s Softball Coach. This is a twelve-month, benefit eligible position. The purpose of this position is to direct all aspects of the softball program and enhance the direction of the Dakota State University Athletic Department. As the Head Softball Coach, this person will be responsible for oversight and administration of all aspects of the Softball program which will include coaching, recruitment and retention of student-athletes, player development, fundraising, compliance, and budget management, and developing a positive culture.

Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and recruit qualified student-athletes.
- Supervise assistant coaches, including hiring, training, and evaluating assistant and student coaches.
- Prepare game and practice plans.
- Develop and grow the skills of players through effective coaching.
- Manage softball budgets.
- Coordinate annual summer camps, recruitment trips, and on-campus recruitment events.
- Communicate and collaborate with departments across campus to ensure student-athlete success.
- Monitor academic progress of the team and individual student-athletes.
- Mentor student athletes through academic and athletic challenges.
- Participate in fundraising events.
- Off-season game management for other DSU sports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Three years of previous experience coaching and recruiting. Preference given to those with experience at the collegiate level.
- Knowledge and skill to evaluate and assess student-athletes’ skills and abilities in softball.
- Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have a strong commitment to student-athlete success.
- Must have exemplary ethical conduct and a commitment to follow all applicable NAIA and Frontier Conference rules and regulations.
- Must have the ability to work effectively in a collaborative effort to maintain the mission, vision and objectives of the athletics department.
- Ability to work evening and weekends and travel as required.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
