- Plan, organize, and conduct effective practices and training sessions.
- Teach fundamental skills, strategy, and sportsmanship.
- Develop individual player skills and improve team performance.
- Evaluate athletes’ abilities and determine team lineups and game strategies.
- Supervise all team-related activities, including games, practices, travel, and off-season conditioning.
- Maintain discipline and enforce rules and policies outlined by the school and athletic department.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes.
- Promote and build the baseball program at all levels (varsity, junior varsity, feeder systems).
- Maintain inventory and care of equipment and uniforms.
- Coordinate field maintenance and facility use with school staff.
- Monitor academic progress and encourage student-athletes to prioritize education.
- Serve as a mentor and positive role model, fostering leadership and character.
- Maintain open and effective communication with players, parents, school staff, and media.
- Coordinate with assistant coaches and athletic trainers.
- Attend athletic department meetings and fulfill all administrative duties.
- Follow all district, CHSAA, and league rules and regulations.
- Ensure athletes complete required physicals, waivers, and eligibility documentation.
- Prior baseball coaching experience (preferably at the high school or collegiate level)
- Knowledge of the game, strategy, and modern coaching techniques
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Ability to pass background and fingerprint clearance
- ?Experience in strength and conditioning preferred
- Knowledge of NCAA eligibility requirements preferred
- Requires evenings, weekends, and travel for games and tournaments.
- Outdoor work in varied weather conditions.
- Active role involving physical demonstration and participation.
Salary and Benefits:
The salary for this position is 10% of base teacher salary ($4925 per season for the 2025-2026 school year), as well as enrollment in a PERA retirement plan and unemployment insurance. Candidates who have previously coached baseball or Weld Re-9 are eligible for $150 per year as an experience factor. Coaching at other districts or schools does not count towards the experience factor.
