Position Summary:
St. John Paul II Catholic High School is seeking a compassionate, highly organized, and knowledgeable Resource Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will be committed to academic excellence, inclusion, and the mission of Catholic education. The Resource Teacher will work closely with students, parents, teachers, and administrators to ensure academic success for all learners.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- Valid Florida teaching certification in Exceptional Student Education (ESE) or eligibility to obtain it
- Minimum of three years of experience working with high school students in a resource or special education setting
- Familiarity with IEPs, 504 Plans, learning strategies, and differentiated instruction
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Level II Background Screening clearance
- Commitment to the values and mission of Catholic education
Duties and Responsibilities:
Student Support:
- Provide direct instructional support to students with documented learning needs in one-on-one and small group settings
- Monitor, document, and support the academic progress of students receiving accommodations or support services
- Implement academic strategies and interventions tailored to individual student needs
- Assist in the development and implementation of student learning plans, accommodation plans, or service plans as appropriate
Teacher Collaboration:
- Collaborate with general education teachers to differentiate instruction and modify curriculum when necessary
- Offer resources, guidance, and professional development to faculty regarding best practices for inclusion and support of diverse learners
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate in developing school-wide intervention strategies
Family Communication:
- Serve as a liaison between school and families to ensure consistent communication and support
- Conduct meetings with parents to review student progress and update plans as needed
Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with state and school policies
- Ensure proper documentation for accommodations, service plans, and intervention progress
- Support standardized testing accommodations and monitor compliance with approved supports
Professional Development and School Life:
- Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school functions as required
- Stay current on best practices in special education, learning support, and inclusive teaching
- Participate in supervision duties and other responsibilities assigned by administration

- Promote the Catholic identity and mission of St. John Paul II Catholic High School
