Position Summary:

This position assists patients with medical records requests and maintaining an accurate and complete chart for patients. This position also assists with care transfers and attorney medical records requests and ensures all medical information is released compliantly and in accordance with all HIPAA laws.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Files/scans patient charts and records
  • Delivers incoming mail and/or packages to the proper person upon receipt, processes outgoing mail and distributes/tasks faxes
  • Assembles charts for new patients and prepares charts for scheduled patients; requests patient information from outside sources as needed
  • Maintains the organization of our storage facility
  • Completes all medical records request as per HIPAA guidelines. Subpoenas to be handled by corporate office
  • Maintains office supplies, and notifies management of problems
  • Verifies insurance/benefit coverage and collects co-pays and/or payment toward account balances at the time of service when necessary
  • Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient charts prior to appointment with recent test results and correspondence
  • Responds to patient communications and transfers calls or delivers complete messages to the appropriate individual per practice protocol
  • Maintains strict confidentiality; and treats staff, physicians, patients and visitors with respect
  • Performs selected clerical and administrative duties, and assists physicians as part of the care team
  • Maintain net, legible and organized written records
  • Maintain a neat, clean and organized work area.
  • Performs other related work as required
  • Adheres to all company policies per Employee Handbook
  • Follow written and verbal instructions of supervisor and providers
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $20 - $21 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, licensure, skills, and experience.

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.

Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

Requirements:

Education and / or Experience:

  • High school/GED strongly preferred
  • Medical office experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to read/write in English, and follow written instructions
  • General computer knowledge around navigation and Microsoft tools required (Office, Word, Excel)

Compensation: around $21 per hour
