We are a large dermatopathology laboratory serving their own providers. We are seeking an experienced manager who is responsible for the technical and administrative supervision of the histology laboratory operations, staff, regulatory compliance and SOPs in a growing dynamic dermatology practice.
This role includes acting as liaison between technical staff, dermatopathologists, and referring providers. We are looking for a leader who can develop a strong, inclusive environment.
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Service area: Chicago region and Northwest Indiana, out of state
Specific Responsibilities: May Include but are not limited to:
Operations:
Supervises the daily operations of the histology department including staff and clinical processes, to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and established procedures.
· Compiles data and prepares reports
· Builds a strong team that is dedicated to both referring physicians and employees; develops loyalty and engagement.
· Responsible for the coordination between Lab, clients, and patients.
· Performs all functions of a Histology Technician
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies, company, and department policies, adheres to CAP, CLIA, State Regulations, HIPAA, Safety and OSHA regulations.
- Handles competency assessments, Quality Control, and instrument reviews.
- Conducts specimen processing, including accessioning, grossing, processing, embedding, cutting, slide mount and special stains.
· Develops, Implements, revises, and interprets and enforces the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), company policies and procedures, and service standards.
· Works with department and corporate office on annual operating and capital budgets, reporting and analysis
· Recruits and onboards new staff; provides training for existing staff as needed.
- Works closely with corporate staff to assist in performance improvement plans, grant promotions, etc.
- Supports a positive, inclusive work culture.
Experience/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science, medical technology or chemical, physical, or biological science, plus1 year training and experience in high-complexity testing; OR Associate degree in medical laboratory technology and 2 years laboratory experience in high complexity testing.
- Certified Histotechnician (HT)/Histotechnologist (HTL) (ASCP)
- Minimum of 6 years performing all functions within an anatomical pathology laboratory.
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory responsibility
- Comprehensive knowledge of Laboratory operations and regulatory standards, Including CAP and CLIA
