Position Summary
The Housekeeper is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors in a personal care home setting. This position plays a vital role in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and infection control in resident rooms, common areas, and facility premises, contributing to a home-like and dignified atmosphere.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning of resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces.
- Ensure all high-touch surfaces are disinfected regularly to comply with infection control protocols.
- Collect, transport, and properly dispose of trash and soiled linens; restock supplies such as paper products, soap, and towels.
- Launder residents’ personal clothing, bed linens, and towels following proper laundering procedures.
- Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and report low stock to supervisor.
- Follow facility procedures for handling hazardous materials and chemicals.
- Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or needed repairs to the supervisor promptly.
- Assist with deep cleaning schedules and special housekeeping projects as needed.
- Exhibit respect and sensitivity to residents’ personal belongings, privacy, and dignity.
- Participate in training sessions on infection control, fire safety, and facility policies.
- Collaborate with nursing and caregiving staff to ensure a clean and comfortable living environment for all residents.
- Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations including compliance with personal care home licensing standards.
QualificationsExperience
- Previous housekeeping experience in a personal care home, long-term care facility, hospital, or hospitality setting strongly preferred.
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Knowledge of proper cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
- Compassionate and respectful attitude towards elderly and disabled residents.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 25 lbs frequently during shift.
- Ability to push or pull housekeeping carts.
- Must be able to perform tasks that involve exposure to cleaning agents and disinfectants.
- Must meet physical demands associated with housekeeping duties.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $10.00 - $13.00 per hour
