Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Housekeeping Associate to join our team. The Housekeeping Associate provides housekeeping services throughout the Museum facilities and grounds to ensure a clean and healthy environment for Museum guests and teammates. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic and a passion for maintaining cleanliness and order in various environments. This role is essential in ensuring that all areas are kept to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, contributing to an inviting atmosphere for guests and teammates alike.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clean and sanitize common and high-touch areas throughout the Museum including restrooms, conference areas, touch pads, door handles, counters, etc., while adhering to Museum standards.
- Maintain and clean offices, lobbies, breakrooms, and other high-traffic areas.
- Collect / empty trash and recycling receptacles.
- Dust, vacuum, sweep, and mop floors.
- Clean glass, windows and doors.
- Complete all scheduled daily assignments within designated time frames and inform the supervisor at the end of the day of any assignments not completed.
- Properly use all cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with product standards and Museum procedure.
- Replenish cleaning supplies and maintain proper storage of chemicals and consumables.
- Assist the Events and Facility Rental team with hands-on support as needed.
- Responsibilities are not all inclusive, additional duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous experience in housekeeping or custodial roles is preferred, particularly in customer service or hospitality environments.
- Knowledge of industrial cleaning techniques is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Physical stamina to perform cleaning duties, including lifting and moving items as needed.
- A commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment for guests and teammates alike.
WORK SCHEDULE
The Museum is open 6-7 days per week, depending on the season. Schedule may include weekends and occasional evening hours due to events or evening hours the Museum is offering. Full-time opportunity available after 90 days.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL/SENSORY DEMANDS
The work environment is a climate-controlled art museum with display galleries, standard offices, museum shop, and other non-public spaces. Work is performed almost entirely indoors along with occasional outdoor work.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to receive oral and written instructions in English and to clearly communicate in English; although Spanish speaking is a plus. The employee is required to move about their work area, between galleries and storage areas, ascend and descend stairs; walk and stand for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to lift, drag and/or move up to 30 pounds unassisted. The employee is required to identify, observe, and assess visually and comply with Museum health and safety-related protocols.
