Description
Under the general supervision and direction of the Human Resource Manager, this position provides varied administrative support requiring technical problem solving and decision making resulting in trouble shooting and basic research. Such support may be of a confidential nature. The individual in this position will provide assistance to other departments as needed, where supervision will then be transferred to the department served.
Examples of Duties
- Assist in the employee recruitment function, including preparing job posting materials and interview preparations.
- Serve as a member on the Safety Committee and Wellness Committee; prepare meeting minutes to update the Human Resources Manager on activities. Maintain related policies, distribute to staff as appropriate. Schedule ergonomic assessments with new employees or as requested. Oversee quarterly building inspections. Provide information to, and work closely with, the Safety Consultant as needed.
- Assist City Clerk’s Office with elections and clerical backup.
- Maintain employee personnel files.
- Provide clerical assistance in labor negotiation process, compile survey results.
- Provide direct support and assistance on recurring and special projects and programs with admin support.
- Provide administrative support including: working with electronic calendars, conference registrations, preparing documents and reports, copying, collating, and filing, preparing refreshments for meetings and trainings when needed.
- Provide information, explanation, and assistance to the public and other employees via telephone, e-mail, fax, and in person. Back up to other departments to cover lunch.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide an efficient and streamlined process for ordering supplies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Supplemental Information
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- 2 years of administrative support or related experience
- Two years of customer service experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
