HVAC Service Technician IV

Daikin Applied is seeking a full-time Service Technician IV. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance for commercial and industrial HVAC equipment. The responsibilities will increase based on exposure to tasks, ability to develop troubleshooting skill set, and consistent and accurate completion of assignments. The HVAC equipment you will be servicing includes but is not limited to large and small rooftop units, split systems, chillers, and boilers. Location: New Orleans, LA - Onsite  

What you will do:

• Oversee and lead up to 10 HVAC Technicians
• Support Mission Critical Customers throughout the entire lifecycle of equipment and building needs.
• Manage and provide QA/QC oversight with corporate partners on Warranty, Parts and Planned Maintenances.
• Ensure Fleet, Company Property, Parts and Tools are used within corporate guidelines.

• Ensure timely and cost-effective start-up of maintenance contracts, and efficient and timely installation of jobs, providing maintenance according to contract requirements, and ensuring customer concerns/complaints are resolved in a timely manner
• Perform ongoing review of contracts/projects, implementing corrective actions to ensure costs are consistent with financial plans. Responsible for negotiating subcontract agreements as required and serving as a primary contact
• Utilize the Service Management System and contract review process to establish an effective work plan which maximizes the capabilities of each team member and provide prompt customer service and ensure that requirements and commitments of each contract are met
• Perform and/or provide expert counsel on scheduled, preventive maintenance on any equipment/system under contract agreement by inspecting and checking equipment to ensure it is in satisfactory working order
• Respond to or assist other Service Technicians responding to emergency service calls to keep system downtime to a minimum. Provide counsel, coaching and leadership and/or analyze, troubleshoot, repair, and restore equipment/systems to full operation and recommend revisions/replacements/upgrades when necessary for effectiveness or in cases of obsolescence
• Support Sales by assisting with job site surveys, reviewing estimates for accuracy, participating in sales promotion programs, and providing technical training and guidance. Participates in the Estimate Review Process as required
• Contribute to accident and illness prevention by ensuring that safe work practices are implemented, and that the work environment is safe; provide safety training as required by OSHA and Daikin Applied safety policies and procedures
• Provide timely, proactive feedback (positive or negative), in order to reinforce positive results or reduce potential call backs due to similar incidents
• Actively participate in performance evaluations of Service technicians, providing feedback on technical skills, attitude, thoroughness, teamwork and developmental suggestions for technician
• Keeps current and provides training on all Daikin Applied products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service and repair
• Regular local travel requirements with some overnight travel

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years related experience with increasing responsibility; or 7+ related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• Technical school with HVAC certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
• Rotational Emergency Call Support as required
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district
• EPA approved Universal Technician Certification required, as necessary
• Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous management/supervisory experience 2 years
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software products
• Oversee a Technician Team while providing Sales and Office Staff with Technical support and Training.
• Commercial HVAC Industry Experience
• Previous experience in mentoring less experienced technicians.
• OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (Daikin provides this training during onboarding process)
• Current first aid / CPR card
• OSHA 30, TACL Class A, Commercial Building Systems

The typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $35.40 - $55.30 in Florida. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
