INDOOR PLANT SALES ASSOCIATE - Part-time

Schedule: 24 hours per week, more hours can be discussed if you have more experience. To be mutually agreed upon. Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday are required. Part-time.

Compensation: $15-17 an hour depending on experience

Looking for an energetic, outgoing salesperson to assist customers with plant purchases and gift shop items. Must be friendly, organized, and willing to do a multitude of tasks. Primary responsibility is sales and customer service. Some knowledge of plants and plant care is essential, some retail experience is required. This is a support position reporting to the store manager. The support position is part-time and hours are not guaranteed during slow periods.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills:

• Must be 18+ years of age
• 1+ years experience in retail or customer service roles, horticulture industry preferred
• 1+ years experience working in sales
• Must enjoy working with people
• Ability to maintain a positive and professional work atmosphere while dealing with customers/guests, managers, co-workers, and staff in a respectful and timely manner.
• Ability to lift 40-75 lbs intermittently
• Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Friendly, outgoing, and able to listen to customer’s needs and respond with suggestions
• Must be reliable with a strong work ethic
• Clear, concise communication including great listening skills
• Positive and upbeat in appearance and attitude
• Passionate about creating beauty in people’s lives

Primary:

• On-floor customer service and sales
• Assisting customers with sales and finding in-store solutions for them
• Answering plant questions and helping customers with plant selection
• Daily plant watering and general plant maintenance to ensure plants are retail worthy
• Diagnosing and offering suggestions on plant diseases and insect problems
• Help oversee shop cleanliness (sweeping, mopping, cleaning, organizing, etc)
• Assist manager as needed

General duties (but may not be limited to):

• Loyalty promotion
• Greet every customer as they walk in and offer assistance if needed
• Ongoing shop projects as assigned
• Housekeeping - breaking down boxes, taking out trash, etc
• Register duties
• Loading and unloading plants, materials, and supplies (requires lifting more than 50lbs or more).
• Loading customer cars
• Plant trimming (clean up broken stems/leaves, etc)
• Bug checks indoor
• Sweep and general clean up indoors and outdoors (leaves, dirt, misplaced plants, tools),
• Barista as needed
• Chile roaster as needed
