Position Details
The Injection Molding Mold Builder / Technician Apprentice is a hands-on operational role learning to preforming various tasks including but not limited to, building interchangeable molds, completing mold changes, setups of injection molding presses and auxiliary robotic equipment, mold maintenance, upkeep of secondary equipment and ensuring presses set up and running efficiently. The goal of this apprenticeship role is to grow into a Mold Builder / Technician position.
A Shift Hours
Monday 3:45 pm - 7:45 pm
Tues / Wed / Thurs: 7:45 am - 7:45 pm
40 Hours a Week
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Build all interchangeable molds, be able to assemble correctly and pressure check all builds
· Keep mold building area organized, and keep parts needed for specific molds together
· Able to troubleshoot issues with the mold itself
· Able to cut ejector pins to length and replace if needed
· Able to tap / rethread any mold or mold component when needed
· Able to install molds in any press
· Ability to troubleshoot water and pump issues within the plastics department
· Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues with injection molding presses and secondary equipment including dryers, loaders, and pumps
· Ability to troubleshoot and solve various molding problems (including: splay, short shots, bumps, color imperfections exc.)
Desired Traits
· Proficiency with hand and power tools
· Proficiency with utilizing measurement tools
· Injection molding equipment and processing experience is a plus
· Depth of knowledge in injection molding steel tooling is a plus
· Depth of knowledge of injection molding with materials including PP, PU, TPR, TPE, and Delrin is a plus
· Experience working with Injection-Molding production auxiliary equipment including Chillers, Robotics, Thermolators, Dryers and Additive Blenders is a plus
· Ability to track, and report/communicate on appropriate operational metrics
· Welding experience is a plus
· Experience with industrial electrical systems up to 480V is a plus
