Creates and implements professional learning solutions for employees. Collaborates with others to design engaging and effective training courses and materials. Ensures that all instructional content aligns with institutional and compliance goals and promotes an environment of continuous learning.
Core Responsibilities
- Works collaboratively with peers, management and subject matter experts (SMEs) to design, deliver and update compelling and effective training materials (including job aids, online courses and facilitator-led classes) for employees.
- Reviews SMEs' content to ensure courses and materials are consistent and adhere to policies, training standards, compliance goals and best practices.
- Ensures courses and materials meet learning objectives.
- Anticipates learners' needs and how instructional design decisions impact learners; recommends practices that enhance the learner experience.
- Identifies and recommends updates/upgrades to current training content, delivery methods and technology to keep courses and materials current and up to date.
- Coordinates course design projects, meetings and tasks, anticipates potential obstacles and influences collaborators for timely completion.
- Works with SMEs to conduct needs assessment/instructional analysis.
- Recommends effective and creative uses of technologies to enhance professional learning, staying current with trends in innovative use of technology.
- Assists with course evaluation processes and reports, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Provides technical support for learning tools, software and platforms.
- Assists with design and development of effective, user-friendly forms.
- Assists with the implementation of other departmental projects and programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Two (2) years' experience working with on-line course design and development using industry-wide authoring software.
- Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS), such as Blackboard, WebCT, Moodle, etc.
- Experience providing instructional design expertise for the development and support of employee training.
- Experience working with management, training coordinators and subject matter experts in course design and development
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UTSA and its infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree from accredited institution.
- Two (2) years of experience using Articulate products, particularly Storyline 360 (strongly preferred).
- Experience in higher education and/or a Texas government agency.
- Experience working with HTML and CSS.
- Experience with other authoring software and producing multimedia materials using current software applications, e.g., Adobe Premiere, Express and Photoshop, Articulate Rise, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and visual design).
- Evidence of creativity.
- Skilled in online course authoring and multimedia applications, including troubleshooting.
- Ability to apply learning theories and best practices in adult learning.
- Applied knowledge of digital accessibility, ADA compliance and universal design for learning.
- Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment with individuals at varying organizational levels.
- Self-motivated and proactive in anticipating and managing obstacles.
- Strong ability to adapt to change and feedback and manage competing priorities. Use of standard office and audio/visual equipment.
