Provides hospital-based cardiothoracic care and consultation in an academic medical center
Provides cardiothoracic care in an outpatient clinic
Performs a wide variety of cardiothoracic procedures
Participates in teaching activities, including conferences and lectures, bedside teaching, and rounds for medical students and/or residents, and continuing medical education
Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship
Provides on-call coverage, as scheduled
Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
Serves the academic community through participations in institutional governance, such as committee work and other administrative duties
Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complimentary to the institutional mission
Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Statement of Faculty Professional Responsibility
Upholds and promotes the values-based culture of TTUHSC El Paso
Remains current with all licensures, certifications, and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position
Required Qualifications
M.D or D.O. degree
Successful completion of one of the following options:
ACGME-accredited general surgery residency program and ACGME-accredited cardiothoracic fellowship program; or,
ACGME-accredited cardiothoracic surgery residency program; or,
ACGME-accredited joint general surgery/thoracic surgery residency program
Texas Medical License, or eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas
Preferred Qualifications
Board certification in Surgery by the American Board of Surgery
Board certification in Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery
Experience in teaching medical students and residents
Experience in conducting research and publishing scientific reports
Emerging or established regional or national reputation for the rank of associate professor or higher
