Organization and Program Summary: The Book Works Project, founded in 2009 as Emerging Workforce Initiative, is a nonprofit organization in Louisville, KY, advocating for and with youth and young adults who are disconnected from opportunities due to educational disruptions, childhood trauma, racial or social discrimination, or economic hardship.
Purpose of the position: The Intake and Impact Specialist assists with establishing and implementing internal processes for scheduling and training team members, accepting and tracking referrals, and analyzing information on the services provided by The Book Works.
Primary Activities
- Administer internal procedures for receiving referrals, assessing and tracking learner needs, and reviewing learner progress.
- Ensure records/documents on students are stored appropriately and accurately.
- Explain the education re-engagement services and process to referral sources and new learners/families. Collect information on the learners’ primary goals and needs.
- Assist with analyzing community and organizational needs and creating reports on organizational impact and outcomes.
- Coordinate the daily scheduling of team members and track hours. Schedule and track staff training activities.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- College courses in Education, Social Services, Data Management, or related fields.
- High level of skills in communication, data management, and organization.
- Demonstrated capacity to organize and follow through on complex and detailed tasks.
- Prefer experience working with youth from diverse and traditionally underserved populations.
- Prefer experience with CRM or other data systems.
