Estimating Intern – Learn, Grow, and Build Your Career in Construction

JR Swigart, a fast-growing commercial roofing company, is looking for a motivated Estimating Intern to join our team and begin their career in the commercial construction industry.
About the Role:
As an Estimating Intern, you’ll get real-world experience supporting the estimating team, working on live bids, and learning the ins and outs of commercial construction. This internship is designed for someone who’s serious about learning, open to mentorship, and looking to grow into a long-term estimator role within our company.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist with reviewing project plans, specs, and bid invitations
- Learn how to perform material takeoffs and develop cost estimates
- Support the preparation of bid packages and proposals
- Help manage bid due dates and coordinate project documents
- Attend job walks (when possible) and gain exposure to site assessments
- Work directly with experienced estimators and project managers
What We’re Looking For:
- Eagerness to learn and grow into an estimating role
- Interest in construction, architecture, engineering, or a related field
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks
- Strong communication skills and comfort with Microsoft Excel
- Prior construction experience is a plus but not required
Pay & Benefits:
- Hourly Pay: $20–$30/hr, depending on experience
