JOB SUMMARY
The City of West Hollywood's Parking Services Division is excited to announce an internship opportunity for a dedicated student in the field of traffic engineering, architecture, urban planning, transportation planning, or a related field. This position offers a unique chance to develop a wide range of administrative skills and gain invaluable knowledge of parking policies, regulations, and enforcement. The Parking Services Division Intern will work under the direction of the Parking Services Manager, Parking Services Supervisor, Parking Services & Projects Officer, and Parking Analyst. The division is interested in students passionate about the linkages between public service and the field of parking, transportation, and mobility.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized and possess strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to engage with other staff members and the public effectively.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Under supervision, perform a variety of tasks and administrative duties in support of the parking division's daily operations. The candidate will gain experience in parking operations and permit process and become familiar with local codes, laws, and regulations. This is a part-time position, generally up to 20 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
- Assist the Parking Services Division in analyzing parking needs throughout the City
- Review requests for permit parking districts
- Conduct investigations for contested parking citations
- Perform routine inspections for meters as well as signage and curb painting
- Assist in administrative and clerical support activities including front desk duties
- Act as a liaison between the division and the general public
- Carry out basic planning tasks such as data collection and analysis
- Coordinate business and/or resident surveys to determine parking needs
- Assist in the analysis of parking supply and demand
- Assist in developing informational brochures to inform the public about City parking policies and programs
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Must be a college student, enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate. Coursework in traffic engineering, architecture, urban planning, transportation, or a related field is desirable
- Eligibility to remain in the program is contingent upon school enrollment
- Must be able to work up to 20 hours per week
- This position is not eligible for remote work

The City complies with California Labor Code 245-249 by providing paid sick leave for part-time hourly employees at the rate of one (1) hour for every 30 hours worked. The maximum accrual is 40 hours.
