Veterans encouraged to applyNo prior automotive industry experience is required to apply!The Internal Service Advisor is the critical link between customers and service technicians in a dealership or repair shop. You'll act as a customer service expert, technical communicator, and advisor, ensuring a smooth and positive experience throughout the vehicle service process.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary liaison between the service department and the sales/used car departments.
- Review internal repair orders for accuracy, completeness, and proper cost allocation.
- Coordinate and prioritize reconditioning and repair work for used vehicle inventory and dealer trades.
- Communicate effectively with technicians, parts staff, and managers to ensure timely and cost-effective service.
- Monitor repair progress and update internal stakeholders on vehicle status and estimated completion times.
- Ensure all work performed complies with dealership and manufacturer standards.
- Verify that all necessary approvals and documentation are obtained before initiating repairs.
- Manage and track internal work order flow from opening to final billing.
- Support the parts department in sourcing and expediting parts for internal jobs.
- Collaborate with the sales and inventory teams to meet vehicle delivery timelines.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all internal repairs.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and streamline internal service operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrates a high “HQ” (Hospitality Quotient) consisting of kindness & optimism, intellectual curiosity, work ethic, empathy, self-awareness, and integrity.
- Strong understanding of automotive terminology and mechanical principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical details clearly and concisely.
- Customer service focuses on building trust and rapport.
- Ability to actively listen, identify customer needs, and address concerns effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient in computer skills and dealership management software (DMS).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A valid driver's license may be required.
Physical Requirements
- Standing and Walking: Service advisors often spend significant time on their feet, walking around the dealership, interacting with customers, and inspecting vehicles.
- Sitting: There may be periods of sitting, such as during customer meetings or paperwork.
- Reaching and Bending: Service advisors may need to reach into vehicles to inspect damage or point out features.
- Lifting: Occasionally, there might be a need to lift or move documents, brochures, or other materials.
