Position Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and student-focused ISEE Instructor to help students prepare for admission to independent and private schools. The ideal candidate combines strong content knowledge across ISEE verbal, reading, quantitative reasoning, and mathematics achievement sections with effective test-prep pedagogy. You’ll design structured lesson plans, deliver engaging instruction, track data, and coach students toward score gains and confident test performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Targeted Curriculum: Create lesson plans aligned to the ISEE’s section formats, question types, and timing demands (Lower, Middle, and/or Upper Level as needed).
- Deliver Engaging Instruction: Teach small groups and/or 1:1 sessions using interactive methods, guided practice, and strategy modeling.
- Administer & Analyze Practice Tests: Proctor full-length or section-based diagnostics; interpret score reports to identify strengths and growth areas.
- Personalize Learning Plans: Build customized study tracks and targeted drills (vocab building, reading inference, quantitative comparison, word problems, etc.).
- Coach Test Strategy: Teach pacing, educated guessing, elimination strategies, scratchwork organization, and anxiety management.
- Provide Actionable Feedback: Offer clear written and verbal progress updates to students (and families) with next-step recommendations.
- Track Data & Adjust Instruction: Use performance trends to reteach concepts, assign focused practice, and benchmark score goals.
- Collaborate & Share Resources: Work with instructional staff to refine materials, align curriculum levels, and share best practices.
- Stay Current: Monitor updates to ISEE content specifications, score reporting, and test administration policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Mathematics, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Prior experience teaching or tutoring standardized test prep; ISEE experience strongly preferred (SSAT experience transferable).
- Strong command of ISEE content domains: verbal reasoning, reading comprehension, quantitative reasoning, and math achievement.
- Clear, student-friendly communication skills; able to explain complex ideas step by step.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
