Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our Accounting team. This position is ideal for candidates with a foundational understanding of accounting principles and hands-on experience with accounts payable (AP) processes. The role will also support freight-related accounting tasks, including verifying logistics invoices and reconciling freight charges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process, code, and enter accounts payable invoices in a timely and accurate manner
- Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices to ensure proper payment approvals
- Communicate with vendors to resolve discrepancies, request credits, and clarify invoice issues
- Support freight-related accounting activities, including reviewing carrier invoices, validating shipment costs, and ensuring proper allocation to cost centers
- Assist in month-end closing procedures by preparing journal entries and reconciling AP sub-ledgers
- Maintain accurate vendor records and assist in the onboarding process of new suppliers
- Reconcile vendor statements and follow up on past-due balances
- Collaborate with the logistics and operations departments to track and validate freight charges
- Help ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies
- Perform other administrative and accounting duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or pursuing)
- 1–2 years of experience in an accounting or accounts payable role
- Exposure to freight billing, logistics invoices, or transportation-related costs is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite) preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting
