Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals and the ability to provide exceptional care in a kennel environment. This role involves ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of pets while maintaining a clean and organized facility.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, and exercising.
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels, play areas, and other facilities.
- Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff.
- Assist with grooming tasks as needed, ensuring pets are clean and comfortable.
- Handle and restrain animals safely during routine procedures or emergencies.
- Support dog training initiatives by reinforcing basic commands and behaviors.
- Maintain accurate records of animal care activities and any incidents that occur.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their animals' needs and behaviors.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in animal care or handling is preferred.
- Knowledge of pet grooming techniques is a plus.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) as required for animal care tasks.
- Proficiency in animal restraint techniques to ensure safety for both pets and staff.
- Familiarity with dog training methods is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with both animals and their owners.
- A background as a veterinary technician or similar role is advantageous but not required.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours including weekends.
