Rayito de Sol is dedicated to providing a culturally rich, bilingual early childhood education experience. We are looking for a detail-oriented Kitchen & Facilities Associate to support our daily food service and facility cleanliness, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for our students and staff.
Position Overview
The Kitchen & Facilities Associate plays a vital role in preparing and serving nutritious meals and maintaining a clean and organized learning environment. This position is ideal for someone who is self-motivated, enjoys working in a childcare or school setting, and takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, and food safety.
Key ResponsibilitiesFood Service & Kitchen Duties
- Prepare and serve breakfast, snacks, and lunch following established menus and nutrition guidelines.
- Maintain accurate meal and snack counts based on classroom attendance.
- Perform weekly inventory checks and assist with ordering food and supplies.
- Keep kitchen appliances, cabinets, and inventory clean and well-organized.
- Ensure compliance with state and local health departments, licensing, and nutritional regulations.
- Maintain food safety logs and sanitation records.
- Collect and properly dispose of food waste and used dishes from classrooms.
Facility Cleaning & Other Responsibilities
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and sanitize common areas.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, offices, and front desk areas.
- Empty trash bins and properly dispose of waste.
- Perform monthly deep cleaning of classroom carpets.
- Report any maintenance or safety concerns to the management team.
- Assist in classrooms as needed to support the team.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Spanish language proficiency preferred.
- Valid Food Handler’s Certification or willingness to obtain one.
- Previous experience in a school, childcare, or food service setting is a plus.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 30 lbs.
