Kitchen Lead
The Kitchen Lead role is part of the Leadership team. The shift lead reports directly to the Head Manager. Ensures quality and presentation of every meal served to our customers. Maintains cleanliness in the kitchen work area, dining room area, food preparation area, refrigerator, walk-in, freezer and pantry. Ensures all kitchen equipment is operating properly and is used properly to ensure safety in the kitchen.
Kitchen Lead Expectations
● Be the eyes and ears of the shop
● Communicate what you see by communicating in shift sheets, Slack and directly to the restaurant manager.
● Uphold the standards through coaching, positive feedback, training and accountability. Standards include and are not limited to: drink making, food preparation, hospitality, cleanliness, speed, accuracy, presentation, dress code, professionalism, and restaurant culture.
● Perform other small tasks that contribute to operations (ordering, Sam’s Club run, 1:1 meetings)
● Support the team in case of emergencies, holiday coverage or illness.
Core responsibilities:
Ordering and Inventory
- Working knowledge of inventory “pars”, ordering systems, and vendors.
- Responsible for executing weekly orders.
- Monitor all inventory items. Notify the head manager when items are low or out. Potentially expected to restock or replace missing items.
- Maintain organizational systems in the shop. Organize perishable items by date with labels.
- Ability to create builds and shift sheets for the kitchen and BOH area.
Training
- Provide training on BOH duties. Give feedback to new team members both positive and constructive.
- Have working knowledge of all training processes and classes.
Quality Control and Shift management
- Monitor team on shift for quality and expediency, and cleanliness.
- Look for ways to expedite orders.
- Problem solving abilities.
- Correct problems on shift. Give thorough feedback to team members and report incidents to the head manager.
- Check shift sheets for completion at start and end of shift.
- Knowledge of policy and handbook.
Maintain Informational systems in shop and electronically
- Maintain waste log and broken item tracking.
- Maintain all “to do lists” and communicate to the Head manager.
Communication
- Ensure team members are up to date on new BOH information from meetings and/or Slack.
- Meet weekly with the Head manager.
Restaurant and Equipment maintenance
- Execute deep cleaning and equipment tasks assigned by the head manager.
- Report any equipment problems immediately to the head manager

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
