Ridgewood Water is accepting applications for a full-time Laborer 1 position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Ability to perform heavy manual labor for prolonged periods of time under varying temperatures and climatic conditions.
· Follow prescribed instructions, and have the ability to learn/use the tools and equipment needed to perform routine labor tasks related to water-main repair and installation, distribution system maintenance, fire hydrant repair and operation, and treatment system maintenance.
· Under direction, may learn to make routine repairs to valves, fittings, pipe sections, or other equipment used in the area of assignment.
· Ability to learn various types of electronic equipment, including field information systems, pipe-locating equipment, and equipment/software used for performing utility markouts.
· Position may require working after scheduled hours (on occasion) to help complete work under the direction of a Senior Water Repairman, Supervisor, or Superintendent.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Applicants must be able to obtain a valid NJ Commercial Driver’s License (Class B) with applicable endorsements within 1 year of hire.
· 4-5 years of experience working at a water utility or in the trades preferred.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
The Village of Ridgewood is a Civil Service municipality and an Equal Opportunity Employer.
· Starting salary is $54,860.00, as per current Union Collective Bargaining Agreement.
· This position is eligible for the NJ State Pension System as well as NJ State Health Benefits Program.
