I. Position Overview:
This position can be either part time or full time and does not necessarily have regular working hours. The person in this position may be expected to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, or other times as necessary to implement services and maintain adequate coverage for the safety and well being of the individuals participating in the assigned program. This position may be responsible for a variety of tasks that include, but are not limited to: assisting with providing direct care, driving vehicles, minor clerical work and minor physical plant maintenance. This position reports ultimately to the Creative Program Manager.
II. Major Tasks / Responsibilities
A. Programmatic Involvement
1. Assists in identifying and securing resources needed to conduct the program.
2. Assists in planning program activities and ensures activities are carried out by staff.
3. Ensures there is an inventory of supplies necessary for the operation of the program.
4. Assists in coordinating transportation of individuals and transports clients as needed.
5. Facilitates and assists in meal preparation including shopping for needed supplies.
6. Provides appropriate encouragement, support, and interactions for participants and staff
7. Assists in handling maladaptive behavioral outbursts in a manner that is constructive and ensures minimal disruption within the assigned program setting
8. Provide coverage for shifts as needed.
9. Works with guardian/family, affiliate agencies to ensure health, safety and welfare of participants. Attends team meetings as scheduled.
10. Ensures all prescriptions are requested and filled per doctor orders. Ensures copies of all written doctor orders are entered in the medical record.
B. Administrative Accountability
1. Completes paperwork, time sheets, etc., in an accurate and timely manner
2. Ensures work orders and purchase orders are requested/entered as necessary.
3. Completes Incident reports in a timely manner per regulation.
4. Complete vehicle inspection sheets monthly.
C. Creative Staff Oversight Responsibilities
1. Develops and maintains all coverage/shift schedules
2. Proposes and expedites modifications to the day-to-day schedule to ensure coverage
3. Serves as coverage when necessary or appropriate.
4. Assists the Program Manager in developing required in-service training for Creative staff.
5. Provides response to requests by Program Manager for back-up, support or instruction
6. Serves as a member of the Creative interview team.
7. Recommendations regarding staffing needs.
D. Miscellaneous
1. Meets program standards as assigned including completing all required training.
2. Provides direct care (i.e. professional services) as needed to maximize consumer access or enhance program viability.
3. Attends periodic meetings and/or trainings as assigned
4. Performs other duties or responsibilities as needed or assigned.
III. Minimum Qualifications
A. Must Possess a High School Diploma or GED, however Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a human service field is preferred
B. Must have a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
C. At least one year experience providing direct care to persons diagnosed with intellectual developmental disabilities
D. Must possess computer skills sufficient to learn web-based data submission procedures.
E. Must be cognizant of his/her function as a role model, have knowledge of social roles, and be appropriate in manner and appearance
F. Must have good problem-solving skills, demonstrate good judgment, organizational skills, time management and have the ability to act appropriately and judiciously in a crisis situation
G. Must pass law enforcement and any other required background checks prior to employment and annually thereafter.
H. Must meet any program-specific health status requirements (e.g. negative for TB)
