About the Role
We are seeking a Lead Medical Physicist to join a highly skilled and collaborative radiation oncology team in Newport News, Virginia. This position involves direct patient care support, stereotactic program oversight, QA procedures, and leadership of advanced radiation therapy technologies. The ideal candidate is ABR-certified (or board-eligible) with at least 5 years of diverse clinical experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate directly with radiation oncologists and neurosurgeons to design treatment plans for SRS/SBRT and Gamma Knife patients
- Perform patient-specific QA and supervise SRS/SBRT simulations and treatment delivery
- Provide direct physics consultation and support in complex clinical cases
- Coordinate and perform quality control for equipment calibration, imaging systems, and treatment planning software
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and institutional policies
- Perform QA and validation on Varian EDGE linacs, Elekta Gamma Knife systems, Eclipse, ARIA, Mosaiq, and Siemens simulation equipment
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts and provide leadership in advanced treatment technologies

- Eclipse 16.0 TPS with ClearCheck and ClearCalc
- Siemens CT simulator, ARIA, Mosaiq, Epic EMR
- QA Tools: Sun Nuclear QA systems
Required Qualifications
- ABR Certification in Therapeutic Radiological Physics (or Part 2 completed, in progress)
- 5+ years of clinical radiation therapy physics experience, including QA and SRS/SBRT
- Proficiency in stereotactic radiosurgery techniques, including Gamma Knife
- Strong understanding of federal/state regulations, safety protocols, and equipment calibration
- Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Elekta Gamma Knife Icon or Esprit
- Proven leadership in clinical settings and mentoring of junior physicists
- Familiarity with Eclipse, Mosaiq, ARIA, and Siemens imaging systems
