Job Title: Legal Secretary - Litigation Practice
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join our litigation practice team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a law firm setting, with a focus on supporting litigation attorneys. This role requires strong administrative skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist attorneys with drafting and preparing legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests
- Manage attorney calendars and scheduling appointments and court appearances
- Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documents are filed accurately and in a timely manner
- Conduct legal research and assist with case preparation
- Provide administrative support such as answering phones, managing e-mails, and handling correspondence
- Assist with billing and time entry for client matters
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
- 2+ years of experience working as a legal secretary or legal assistant, with a focus on litigation practice
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and legal software programs
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures
