Hattie Ide Chaffee Home is looking for a part time Life Enrichment Assistant who id exceptionally talented, motivated, bright and committed to our senior community. Responsible for implementing a variety of programming including expressive arts, dance movement and music that will meet the physical, emotional and social needs of our residents to enhance overall quality of life.
Flexible schedule, weekdays and every other weekend.
Qualifications and Responsibilities
Sensitivity to the aging process and individualized needs of the Alzheimer's and dementia population.
Experience in working with the Alzheimer's and dementia population.
Adaptability in programs as resident needs and interest change.
Ability to work as a team player, promoting good relations with supervisors, co-workers, families, residents, vendors, volunteers and interns.
Ability to engage residents in therapeutic programs through preparation, deliverance and breakdown of supplies utilized.
Offer patience and guidance to residents when supported in therapeutic programs/
Familiar with cuing such as verbal, visual, light touch, and hand gestures to promote successful activity engagement.
Outgoing, warm and caring personality.
Ability to be flexibility with work assignments and schedule changes.
Diverse interests and background in art, theater, music, dance, creative movement, sewing, knitting, poetry, song writing etc...
Ability to follow written and spoken English.
Experience facilitating programs for elders or memory impaired individuals.
Maintain an open line of communication to direct supervisor and therapeutic recreation team.
