Maintenance AssistantWeir's Spring Valley Store - Farmers Branch, TX
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Assistant to support the Maintenance Supervisor in the upkeep and repair of four separate buildings. This role involves assisting with a wide range of maintenance tasks, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, hands-on experience in facility maintenance, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The Maintenance Assistant may be required to be on call for after-hours emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Maintenance Supervisor with daily maintenance and repair tasks across four buildings.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, electrical fixtures, and plumbing systems.
- Carry out basic carpentry, painting, and other general maintenance duties as needed.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and help troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Ensure tools and equipment are used and maintained properly.
- Maintain clean and organized workspaces and storage areas.
- Follow safety procedures and report any safety hazards or violations immediately.
- Maintain records of completed work and report supply needs to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1–3 years of general maintenance experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry systems.
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and access building rooftops.
- Must be able to bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work in tight or confined spaces.
- Comfortable working in high or elevated areas, including on rooftops.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Must be able to work in various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination are necessary for using tools and performing detailed work.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed across four separate buildings, both indoors and outdoors.
- May involve exposure to loud noises, dust, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for emergencies or scheduled projects.
- Position may require on-call availability for after-hours maintenance needs.
