Overview:
A newly created exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Superintendent exists at Maple Donuts’ facility in Lake City, PA! The Maintenance Superintendent will be responsible for the guidance and leadership of the skilled trades group, taking the initiative in leading capex projects, using industrial engineering studies to support our goal of continuous improvement and will be responsible for implementing a Tool Room system and upgrading our PM scheduling.
Responsibilities & Key Deliverables:
ó Must comply with and enforce all employee and food safety guidelines including LOTO, HACCP, PPE, and OSHA regulations.
ó Vendor management and purchasing from suppliers of equipment, raw materials, tool room supplies, etc.
ó Partners with the Operations team to develop and establish proactive continuous improvement projects in key metrics of safety, quality, productivity, delivery, and profitability.
ó Direct the Maintenance department activities across all three shifts to support the production schedule with a heavy floor presence.
ó Propose improvements in processes, energy usage, resources, quality, employee safety and food safety.
ó Evaluate and recommend process flow changes, equipment upgrades, and standardize changeovers and/or repair procedures.
ó Lead research into capital expenditure proposals and spending. Partner with CEO and other senior leadership team members on strategy for equipment, building, and other fixed assets.
ó Must be able to apply Lean tools for process improvements including statistical analysis, TQM principles, value stream mapping, root cause analysis and Six Sigma.
ó Implement reliability engineering principles to increase uptime and process capability (Cp/CpK).
ó Deliver technical training and coaching to develop team members on an ongoing basis.
ó Provides technical oversight of large-scale project work, monitors progress against schedules, reviews equipment design, and allocates the correct resources to projects.
ó Reads, analyzes and interprets instructions, blueprints, reports, and schedules.
ó Provides accurate costing of jobs/projects and demonstrates considerable negotiations skills with vendors providing services and/or products.
ó Drive continuous improvement in uptime, reliability, and repeatability in processes using root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode effects analysis (FMEA).
ó Using data mining, identify reliability improvement opportunities.
ó Refine and further develop the PM (preventative maintenance) program and research predictive maintenance systems.
ó Partner with Maintenance Purchaser to establish a stockroom of commonly used parts/tools and develop system for organization and tracking.
Requirements:
ó Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
ó Minimum of 10-15+ years as a Maintenance Manager in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Experience must also include responsibility for building and grounds maintenance.
ó Experience with complex cap ex projects, project management (8+ years), budgeting, and root cause analysis.
ó Must be knowledgeable in multiple skilled trades including electrical, mechanical, PLCs, robotics, and troubleshooting.
ó Willingness to work non-standard hours as required by business needs. Periodic weekend hours will be needed at times.
ó A minimum of 7 years leading skilled trades teams across three shifts.
ó Good PC skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access.
ó Blueprint and schematic reading.
