The Apogee Performance Surfaces segment has grown from $100M to $200M in revenue through a recent acquisition. Position Summary
Reporting to the Vice President of RDC Coatings, the Business Development Manager has the responsibility of identifying and developing new business opportunities through sustaining relationships with current customers and building relationships with potential customers, suppliers, partners, and vendors. This role will work in a dynamic environment and is part of a global, cross-functional team including members from sales, sourcing, engineering, manufacturing, marketing and new business development.
Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities to drive company growth
- Evaluate existing customers and new sales efforts with an eye toward building on what works and changing what doesn’t.
- Work closely with our technical team to develop products and services to meet customer demands.
- Expand the profile and reach of RDC Coatings.
- Develop and strengthen internal and external relationships that will lead to increased lead generation and market share.
- Research and analyze market trends, competitor offerings, and customer needs.
- Help to shape the company’s strategic objectives with plans of action.
- Meet sales forecasts
- Visit potential customers to validate opportunities, conduct finish line audits, and support coating trials, secure the sales orders and cover the account until a stable order pattern is established.
- Write detailed call reports for new sales calls, trials, service visits, tradeshows, etc.
- Become proficient using our customer relationship management software-Salesforce
- Prepare and/or present sales updates internally
- Prepare and/or present customer training and technical sales materials
- Prepare price quotations
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Business, or relevant field
- 5+ years of experience in coating development, sales, or manufacturing or equivalent experience
- Strategic, critical and analytical thinking
- Ability to use and analyze data to make good decisions
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth.
- Effective ability to communicate technical information in a concise and understandable manner to all levels of an organization internally and externally
- Strong organizational skills
- Able to meet deadlines
Physical Requirements & Travel:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time and work with a computer using hands and fingers to type.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time to complete customer line audits, customer trials, work tradeshow booths.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 Lbs.
- Travel at least 50% for visits to potential and current customers, other office locations, tradeshows, trainings, etc.
