Position Summary:
Empower’s ability to deliver life-changing medications starts with the strength, precision, and reliability of our facilities. As Manager of Facilities and Maintenance at our Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-registered 503B outsourcing facility, you will lead a highly skilled, multi-shift team accountable for the performance, uptime, and regulatory compliance of complex and mission-critical infrastructure. Your strategic leadership and technical expertise will play a vital role in ensuring uninterrupted operations, enabling us to manufacture and deliver high-quality, affordable medications at scale—advancing our mission to help millions live healthier, happier lives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the daily operations of Facilities and Maintenance Technicians across three shifts to ensure full facility coverage, asset integrity, and compliance with FDA and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) requirements.
  • Leads the development, execution, and continuous refinement of preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning, cleanroom environments, water systems, electrical infrastructure, and building automation systems.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Environmental Monitoring—to proactively resolve issues, minimize downtime, and support all phases of pharmaceutical production.
  • Utilizes Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, performance data, and analytics to drive operational efficiency, identify areas for improvement, and ensure timely maintenance and repairs.
  • Develops and mentors a high-performing technical team by providing clear guidance, strong communication across shifts, and a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous learning.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

  • Technical expertise in sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical environments, cleanroom maintenance, cGMP compliance, and infrastructure systems; demonstrated experience leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) in daily work to drive efficiency, solve problems, and enhance decision-making—adept at integrating AI-powered solutions into all workflows.

Experience and Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in facilities and maintenance operations within FDAregulated or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial technology, facilities management, or a related technical discipline.
  • Preferred certifications include Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM); Certified Facility Manager (CFM); Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (LSSGB) or Black Belt (LSSBB); Occupational Safety and Health Administration 30-hour General Industry certification (OSHA 30); Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging AI in daily work to drive efficiency, solve problems, and enhance decision-making—adept at integrating AI-powered solutions into all workflows.
