THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Sales & Business Development to join our growing team. This is a unique and pivotal role for an individual who thrives in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment and possesses a talent for both strategic sales leadership and hands-on business development. You will be instrumental in driving revenue growth across all our affiliated companies, identifying innovative sales opportunities, and fostering strong partnerships both internally and externally.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Sales Leadership (Collective Growth):
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies for the entire collective, identifying cross-selling opportunities and synergistic initiatives between our diverse home services.
- Research and propose "out-of-the-box" sales and marketing ideas beyond traditional advertising, including identifying strategic partners (e.g., real estate agents, home inspectors, senior living communities, property management companies, insurance adjusters, general contractors) for referral generation.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify new business opportunities and advise on potential new service lines or acquisitions.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for collective sales performance, providing regular reports and insights to leadership.
Partner Engagement & Management (Relationship Building):
- Work closely with the owners of each individual home services company to understand their unique sales cycles, customer bases, and growth aspirations.
- Act as a supportive coach and mentor, empowering owners to enhance their own sales efforts and achieve their specific company goals.
- Facilitate collaborative sales planning sessions with company owners, ensuring buy-in and ownership of shared objectives.
- Employ highly developed interpersonal skills to build trust, rapport, and strong working relationships with diverse personalities, adeptly navigating dynamics to ensure mutual respect and partnership.
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance with sensitivity and diplomacy, motivating rather than dictating.
Direct Sales & Outreach (Personal Contribution):
- Actively engage in personal outreach to establish new professional referral networks and strategic alliances.
- Initiate and nurture relationships with key external stakeholders who can provide consistent referral business to our collective.
- Potentially engage in direct sales efforts for larger, multi-service projects that span across our companies.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 3-5+ years of progressive sales experience, with a significant portion in a leadership or strategic role within the services or trades industries (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical, home improvement, construction).
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute creative, non-traditional sales strategies.
- Proven track record of building and nurturing strong professional relationships and generating referrals.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and identify actionable insights.
- A natural collaborator with a high degree of emotional intelligence, capable of influencing and motivating diverse stakeholders without resorting to an authoritarian approach.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented with a strong entrepreneurial spirit.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for local travel.
