Position Summary

As a Manager in our Personal Independence team, you’ll be on the cutting edge of regulatory compliance, focusing on managing entity data in our financial relationship monitoring system. In this role, you’ll manage a team of professionals responsible for ensuring the accuracy of entity data in our system that monitors professionals’ financial relationships under our independence policies.

Work you’ll do

In this role, you’ll use your research and investigative skills to review entity information and financial relationships in light of independence requirements. This will include:

  • Working closely with partners and professionals both within ICN and within Deloitte’s businesses.
  • Performing research and analysis, drafting conclusions and communications, and strategizing on next steps in coordination with senior team members.
  • Developing an enhanced understanding of PCAOB, SEC, AICPA independence rules, and Deloitte US and Global Firms Independence policies.
  • Understand entity structures and different financial products they provide
  • Work on special projects both independently and collaboratively with other team members, involving leadership for input as necessary.
  • Managing a team of professionals in both the US and India

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Deep experience collaborating with multiple and various stakeholders, including skills and abilities that enable direct interaction with leaders
  • An ability to navigate ambiguous situations and consider nuances and complexities in sensitive or new areas, which may require learning “on the fly”
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with various audiences and levels of seniority
  • Positive attitude, initiative, good judgment, curiosity, and dedication to quality with the ability to react positively in an environment where priorities and deadlines can quickly change and you’ll work on multiple initiatives at once
  • Outstanding attention to detail along with strong technical, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills, including being responsive to requests from our clients
  • Demonstrated team leadership competencies/experience

Independence & Conflicts Network

The Independence & Conflicts Network (ICN) team performs a critical consultative, quality-assurance and risk management function for the Deloitte US Firms, helping the organization remain unbiased and free from conflicts-of-interest, in fact and appearance, when providing service to attest/audit clients. Independence requirements are defined by specific sets of policies, externals rules and regulations, so maintaining both the independence of the Deloitte US Firms and personal independence is essential to the business and reputation of Deloitte. This position offers a dynamic work environment which is driven by the changing financial instruments and the need for responsiveness to regulatory change. The Lead Analyst will be expected to gain a solid understanding of financial relationships and corporate entities. The analyst will work with other departments within the Independence & Conflicts Network, end users (Deloitte professionals with independence requirements) and other Deloitte network organization firms.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors’ degree (preferably accounting, finance, business, or legal)
  • 5+ years of related experience, ideally in a professional services role and environment
  • Proficient in the use of standard office-productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, etc.)
  • Knowledge of various financial products (stocks, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs, etc.)
  • Willing to work in person in our Stamford, CT office as required (presently two days each week but may be subject to change)
  • Experience managing and coaching professionals
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available
  • Ability to travel 0-10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.

Preferred:

  • An understanding of Independence requirements for public accounting firms
  • Experience in regulatory compliance and/or analysis and interpretation of rules, regulations, and standards
  • Experience working for a public accounting firm
