Job Title: Managing Director of Instruction
Department: Instruction
Reports To: Assistant Superintendent of Instruction
Compensation Range: $139,000-$148,440
TRS Classification: Classified
Summary:
Our Managing Director of Instruction will play a major role in the success of the team, and thus candidates should have a deep understanding of interpersonal relationships and effective instructional/supervisory practices. Successful candidates should also have the following experiences and characteristics:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Main Duties:
- Moderate a weekly quantitative discussion with direct reports based on our belief of shared accountability.
- Generate online reports over a variety of metrics and distribute transparently to all stakeholders.
- Hold weekly one on one meetings with direct reports to discuss individual questions and address unique concerns.
- Answer emails and return phone calls within a timely manner.
- Perform duties as needed at quarterly Professional Learning Communities.
- Work collaboratively with the heads of other Epic departments to problem solve and facilitate conflict resolution.
- Facilitate parental questions and concerns about students’ educational opportunities.
- Monitor student data weekly to identify trends and manage accordingly.
- Attend weekly administrative meetings.
- Perform all administrative duties as needed.
Strategic Planning
- Collaborates with the Assistant Superintendents of Instruction and other MDIs to define and articulate the organization’s vision and to develop strategies for achieving that vision in relation to instruction.
- Creates departmental plans
- Monitors instructional strategies for ensuring academic achievement and the long-term success of the organization
- Assists with developing future leadership within the organization in line with a comprehensive succession plan
Management
- Ensures compliance with all federal and state laws manages compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Promotes a culture that reflects the organization’s values, encourages performance excellence, and aligns reward systems with overall goals
- Supervise team members efficiently, in a way that builds camaraderie, team building, and a positive atmosphere
- Ensures that the Assistant Superintendents of Instruction have sufficient up-to-date information to include performance metrics of the instructional team
- Evaluates the organization and the instructional staff’s performance against internal metrics and benchmarks of success
Strategic Relationships
- Assures that the organization and its mission, programs, and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders
- Actively advocates for the organization, its beliefs, and its business efforts
Business Acumen
- Collaborates regarding the design, delivery, and quality of instructional programs and services
- Collects and analyzes evaluation information that measures the success of the organization’s instructional efforts; refines or changes programs in response to that information
Leadership
- Serves as a leader within the organization at the Managing Director level
- Supports operations and administration by advising in instruction related manners
- Collaborates with the Assistant Superintendents of Instruction and other MDIs in the development of policies and planning recommendations
- Represent the school in a professional manner at all times, when working with stakeholders, in dealings with outside entities and situations with fellow employees
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises the instruction departments.
- Supervision of direct reports; indirectly supervise support team members
Education and/or Experience
- Master's Degree Required
- Recent experience supervising employees required. Previous experience supervising a department preferred.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Google applications, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Must have a high aptitude to learn new software as necessary for the business operations of the school.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Current driver's license
- Administration certification preferred
Other Qualifications
- Must be able to pass a state-mandated background check after a conditional offer of employment is made

This position is remotely based and also must travel to various Epic sites. This requires spending some time in the car, driving in various conditions and at various times of day. The noise level is quiet to moderately loud (when students are present.)
