Position Summary:
Telspan Data is actively seeking an experienced Manufacturing Assembly Technician to join our dynamic team with expertise in manufacturing support and product assembly/testing. Telspan Data supplies defense and commercial aerospace flight test technologies and products. Our company designs, develops, and manufactures critical test instrumentation systems, airborne hardware/avionics units. Additionally, Telspan Data supplies real-time data processing, display, and analysis software to our partners.
This role requires proficiency in the assembly of a variety of electronic and mechanical hardware systems – including chassis, PCB test/installation, cables & connectors, and acceptance testing. The ideal candidate will have experience with these in order to produce Telspan Data’s ground-based systems and air born instrumentation and avionic units. This role additionally requires working with precision and strong ‘attention to detail’, using detailed technical specifications and assembly drawings. ** This position is NOT eligible for remote work. **
Essential Qualifications:
● High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
● U.S. Citizenship with at least 5 years of experience in electro-mechanical assembly, with experience on circuit boards, connectors, and cables.
● A strong liking and natural ability to read detailed instructions such as work orders, assembly drawings, or schematics, and be able to determine materials needed and the sequence of assembly on projects.
● Strong computer skills. This role asks employees to utilize computer skills associated with assembly tasks and production control processes. Additional computing skills are required for the creation of documents and spreadsheets for manufacturing information, inventory reports, and other general daily needs.
● Must be experienced in ESD safe practices with PCBs, mechanical torque specifications, and rugged hardware assembly techniques – specifically with fasteners & tight tolerances.
Preferred Qualifications:
● An Associate's Degree or equivalent Trade School training in a related field.
● IPC-620 and J-STD-001 certifications.
● Assembly and repair of fiber optic and copper MIL-38999 connectors and cable assemblies.
● ISO 9001 implementation and operations.
Desired Skills/Knowledge:
● Familiarity with production control processes and computer skills for creating manufacturing documents.
● Knack and ability to read mechanical assembly drawings and electrical schematics.
