Main Purpose of Role:
To coordinate all functions for vessels arriving and sailing at the Ports of Mobile, Houston, New Orleans and Tampa which also includes coordination of pilotage, docking, notification of issues involving the USCG, CBP and other Government officials. Arranging labor to work the vessels with our stevedore vendors, checking compliance of Contracts with various entities, monitoring invoices, approving and providing rates for OOG and break bulk cargo, preparing various reports after vessels departure. Monitoring the timely preparation of reports for all shipping services calling the Ports of Mobile, Houston, New Orleans and Tampa. Monitoring and recording Cost Savings on a weekly/monthly basis.
Main Tasks:
Manages a staff in the Operational, Logistics Equipment Control Division. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of all subsequent skill-sets governing the Land Transportation process. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable law.
- Facilitate, empower, and provide guidance for employees under my supervision.
- Ensuring the efficiency of vessel calls at the ports of Mobile, Houston, New Orleans, and Tampa.
- Finding new cost savings and creating new sources of revenue within Marine Operations.
- Providing cost and approval for all import and export OOG and break bulk shipments for the ports of Mobile, Houston, New Orleans, and Tampa.
- Make cost-efficient decisions concerning the ordering of labor for vessels.
- Supervise the on-time delivery of equipment. Manage depots, terminals, pools, and rail facilities to ensure best processes are in place.
- Responsible for ensuring that all subordinates are in accordance with all of ZIM’s stated Logistics and Equipment company policies and procedures.
- Managing one-way units and off-hires to meet weekly KPIs, idle dwell equipment, and best processes in place to reduce storage cost.
- Resolve all escalated issues/problems to ensure customer satisfaction and knowledge transfer to direct staff.
- Ensure staffing and coverage for all tasks that are handled daily by the GULF Team.
Requirements
- Four to six years’ related experience (Vessel Agency work and or Terminal Knowledge). Experience in Union labor ordering, contract knowledge and stevedoring (a plus)
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university
- 5-10 years supervisory or managerial related industry experience and/or training.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel software, Microsoft Word Processing software and SAP (commercial discipline) preferred.
- Previous managerial experience is a must.
- Previous customer service and call center experience is a plus. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of world geography, be a team player, and able to multi-task.
