Position Overview:
The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for developing, managing, and executing a marketing and communications plan that supports Benilde-St. Margaret’s School, including prospective families, current families, and alumni.
The Director will understand communications, brand identity, marketing, digital, social, and print media and how to use them separately and in tandem to strategically articulate the distinctiveness and appeal of Benilde-St. Margaret’s. They will work closely with admissions, advancement, and school leadership to provide comprehensive marketing and communications programs that enhance the visibility and interest in the school.
The Director will support in word and action the mission and philosophy of the school, and possess a high level of professionalism, integrity, and knowledge of trends and best practices within marketing and communications. The Director will work closely with many stakeholders and will have an ability to manage many projects and activities that are time sensitive in nature.
The Director will report to the President.
Responsibilities to BSM as a Catholic School:
Except in the teaching of religion, it is not an essential prerequisite that all employees be Catholic. However, all employees are expected to respect the teaching of the Church. As a leader, ensure that all areas of responsibility are operated consistent with the Catholic mission of the school.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic
● Create and implement the strategic marketing and communications plan that supports the school’s larger strategic goals around enrollment, advancement, parent and alumni engagement, and the broader community.
● Identify emerging marketing strategies and test their effectiveness and report on their results.
● Collaborate with other departments to achieve student recruitment (inquiries) and fundraising goals.
● Create and implement external communication strategy.
● Create and execute a crisis communication plan.
● Serve as a member of the President’s Leadership Team.
● Guide all internal and external communications, brand management, publications, and marketing efforts.
● Oversee the school’s brand narrative, messaging, and assets.
Tactical
● Manage school website and digital content throughout the school.
● Oversee school social media messaging.
● Determine, monitor, and evaluate the marketing and communications budget.
● Enforce BSM’s brand standards.
● Manage 3rd party vendors, ensuring work is well-defined and completed on time and budget.
● Plan, design, and develop effective advertising campaigns.
● Work with the alumni relations department to produce the Crown & Shield, the school's magazine for alumni, parents, and friends.
● Oversee the production of Knightly News, the school's weekly e-newsletter.
● Manage media relations, including writing press releases and cultivating relations with local media.
● Coordinate key internal vehicles of communication directed at faculty/staff.
● Participate in school-sponsored events as necessary.
● Work with the president and leadership on their messages.
● Manage print production of all marketing and promotional materials.
● Partner with a variety of groups for external and internal communications and marketing.
Required Skills:
● Strong positive communication skills, with an ability to write and edit using an engaging style.
● Strong sense of visual design and communication principles.
● Experience in website content management (FinalSite).
● Expertise in InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe, social media platforms, and project management tools (such as Asana).
● Experience in video production and management of video projects.
● Professional, collaborative, approachable, and friendly demeanor.
● Efficient and organized work strategies.

● Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
Education/ Experience (Minimum Required):
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, or communications related field.
- Five or more years of marketing and/or communications experience preferred.
- Experience in education marketing or communications preferred.
- Experience in supervision of professional level staff preferred.
- Commitment to professional development through continuous learning.
- Discretion and good judgment in handling sensitive and/or confidential information and situations.
- Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines; results oriented.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
